PUPPY INTRODUCTION

A puppy's first visit to a grooming salon has to be carried out with careful and considerate understanding of its needs. How a puppy is handled on its first groom is paramount to a successful groom in the future.
At Look North we offer a special price for puppies up to the age of 16 weeks.
A puppy introduction groom includes bathing, drying, nail trimming and scissor tidying around the feet, bottom and around the eyes.

BATHING & DRYING

Bathing and drying is beneficial to any dog and coat type, from smooth coated French Bulldogs to the very large and hairy Newfoundland.
Any full breed or cross breed is welcome to Look North.
Bathing and drying is carried out to specific breed requirements using up to date techniques and equipment.

SCISSORING & STYLING

At Look North we are proud to be specialists in scissoring and styling, an art that can take years to achieve.
We will style your dog to breed standard or non breed standard by request.

HANDSTRIPPING

As hand stripping professionals we will assess your dog's coat for suitability for this grooming technique.
Wire or silk coat hand stripping is available for appropriate dogs.
This will be discussed at consultation.

DESHEDDING & UNDERCOAT REMOVAL

For double coated and some smooth coated breeds, de-shedding and undercoat removal is vital to maintain a healthy skin and coat.
This process will eliminate loose dead hair and promote healthy skin.

NAIL TRIMMING & EAR CLEANING

Nail and ear care are included in the full groom or they can be offered to current customers between appointments free of charge.
A non grooming customer is also welcome to bring their dog or cat for a nail trim or ear clean appointment only.

FAQs

How long will my pets appointment be?

This is dependent on the size, coat condition, temperament and styling requirements of your pet. At Look North we take great care to put your pets welfare first allowing comfort breaks in-between the different processes. This therefore requires a minimum appointment time of two and a half hours although we have the facilities for a longer stay if this suits your requirements better.

What is included in the cost of the appointment?

A full groom includes consultation and coat advice, visual health check, grooming out, bathing with finest Italian coat treatments, complete drying, scissoring and styling or hand stripping, nail trimming, ear cleaning.

What will the cost be?

This is dependent on the size, coat condition, temperament and styling requirements of your pet. Please contact Look North for price details.

Can I stay with my dog?

Our advice is for you to leave your dog with us as we find they respond better and are less stressed during the grooming process. However, if you do need to stay with your dog this can be accommodated by prior arrangement.

Are the dogs in crates?

Our dogs are kept in a secure environment for their own safety and to give them their own personal space and the opportunity to relax comfortably.

What if my dog is ill, pregnant or in season?

If your dog has sickness and/or diarrhoea the appointment must be re-arranged. If your dog has a minor injury or other illness, it may still be possible to groom but please contact us prior to the appointment to discuss. We will not groom a bitch beyond 4 weeks pregnant and up to 6 weeks after the puppies are born but this is subject to prior discussion. If your bitch is in season it can still attend but please notify us on or before your arrival.

What age should my puppy be for it's first appointment?

A puppy can come for grooming at any age providing that all required vaccinations have been carried out and the vet has given the all clear for the dog to socialise. Introducing your puppy to the grooming salon at an early age will build confidence and help to make the grooming process a pleasure.
